I believe human beings are naturally curious about our universe but that we get discouraged from asking questions and searching for answers. However, we can learn to wonder again. Citizens have the right to understand the technologies and scientific advancements that affect them. Students in my classes have the opportunity to learn how to ask questions and conduct their own research into the realms of chemistry and physics. These two basic sciences give us windows into understanding why the natural world behaves as it does and, more importantly, how we can better control our surroundings with technologies that can benefit humankind.
